Iowa Lakes Foundation launches campaign

By Staff | Oct 1, 2008

During Oct. 1-12 Iowa Lakes Community College employees will have the opportunity to participate in the Iowa Lakes Foundation’s ‘We Believe’ Annual Giving Program benefiting Iowa Lakes Community College and its students.

During these two weeks, the foundation staff will visit each of the five campuses to begin the annual effort of asking college employees to participate in the giving program that helps meet financial needs that exist beyond traditional funding sources. The theme for this year’s program is “We Believe Change is Good,” emphasizing how just a little ‘change’ in a piggy bank can collectively create opportunities, or ‘change,’ within the college and in the lives of the students attending Iowa Lakes. Employees who attend any of the kick offs will be able to enjoy Pepsi products donated by PepsiAmericas of Estherville and will receive a thank you participation gift. They will also have the opportunity to win door prizes and a chance to name and establish criteria for a $500 We Believe Scholarship.

The goal for the 2008-09 employee program is to increase participation 3 percent over last year, to 89 percent overall. Each campus will have the opportunity to earn a thank you dessert session by meeting or exceeding the participation goal.

Once the support of the college employees is secured, the community phase of the “We Believe” Annual Giving Program will be held after the first of the year and will involve community volunteers assisting the Foundation to seek pledges of support from individuals, businesses and alumni in the five-county college district and beyond.

“We Believe” contributions are tax deductible and support Iowa Lakes Community College in many areas. Those with questions about the “We Believe” Annual Giving Program may contact Jolene Rogers at 712-362-0491, 800-242-5106 ext. 4491 or jrogers@iowalakes.edu.
