Be prepared to be scared
Get ready to get frightened beyond belief. Doc Sievert’s Haunted Barn will be held 8-10 .m. Saturday, Oct. 25 and Friday, Oct. 31 at the Emmet County Fairgrounds.
“It’s the same scary bunch,” Doc said of this year’s chamber of horrors, now in its sixth year. For the first four years, Doc invited folks to the Haunted Hike on his place just east of the Izaak Walton League. Due to popular demand, starting last year the event moved to the Haunted Barn. Doc says there will be some traditional scares as well as some new ones this year.
A new feature last year was a “moving wall”. This year will feature the haunted chamber with personal spooky guides. Visitors will find thunder, lightning and other surprises.
“We’ll have the chainsaw sharpened right before,” says Doc. “We had some complaints last year because it was a little dull. We weren’t making clean cuts.”
You can still pitch in to help if you want. Just call Doc at Sievert’s at 362-2916 if you want to lend a hand. Volunteers are also needed to help set up both nights.
Admission is $6 a person but you can get a free coupon for $1 off at Sievert’s Furniture and Floors at 512 Central Ave. in Estherville.
The Haunted Barn is located just southwest of Skateland on the Emmet County Fairgrounds.
