Veterans Day observances were held 11 a.m. Tuesday at the World War I monument Tuesday in Library Square. First Christian Church Rev. Doug Burton observed that the snow-laden observance should remind everyone of the hardships that troops endured during the Battle of the Bulge 64 years ago. Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy Gene Haukoos said that Veterans Day has as much meaning as ever, with American troops involved in two conflicts abroad.
