Determining Estherville’s housing needs

By Staff | Jun 11, 2009

The Excel! Estherville Housing Committee is moving forward with a housing assessment to help develop a housing plan. The Community Housing Assessment Team will visit Monday and Tuesday, June 15-16.

Black Hills Energy Networks sponsors the CHAT process. According to a release from Black Hills, the process builds upon the experiences of one of the Midwest’s best-known community planning and development consulting firms, RDG Crose Gardner Shukert.

It combines the resources of Black Hills Energy, state and regional groups and the local community to create a clear, achievable action plan designed to achieve results.

The CHAT process consists of two stages-a preliminary analysis and an intensive community visit.

The schedule for next week’s visit is as follows:

Monday, June 15

10 a.m.-noon: Community Tour

Noon-1:30 p.m.: Lunch with project sponsors

1:30-3 p.m. Realtors and property managers

3-4:30 p.m. Builders and developers

Tuesday, June 16

7:30-9 a.m. Major employers

9-10:30 a.m.: Financial organizations
