A-R readies for school
In an early morning session Wednesday, the Armstrong-Ringsted School Board approved hiring contracts and sharing agreements for the upcoming school year.
Hiring contracts approved were JoAnn Eaton, junior-high volleyball; Nicole Voetmann, dance coach and Latasha Bruhn, full-time pre-kindergarten instructor.
Superintendent Randy Collins said sharing agreements will bring in another $127,000 to the district for this school year. In addition, sharing management positions reimburses the district $78,578 in supplemental weighting for sharing the transportation director and maintenance director positions. The district will also be reimbursed $36,753.60 in supplemental weighting in fiscal 2011 for sharing superintendent Randy Collins’ position with Graettinger-Terril which started this year.
Sharing Nathan Hanson’s transportation director position with Sentral and North Kossuth brings in another $21,486.72 from the other districts, plus $39,28912 in supplemental weighting from the state.
By sharing the duties of Tom Mart, maintenance supervisor, with the city of Armstrong, the district receives $10,732.32 from the city plus $39,289.12 in state supplemental weighting.
Collins said A-R is working with both Sentral and North Kossuth on Hanson’s job description.
“We’re really trying to make this work,” Collins said. “The duties will start out slowly but they’ll build.”
Board president Rod Foster said he had received correspondence from Sentral School District Superintendent Art Pixler indicating an interest in any possible further relationships between the districts.
Business manager Deb Obbink noted the district would be advertising for a one-on-one special ed aide.
