Loren Ehlers recently joined the U.S.D.A. Natural Resources Conservation Service as a resource conservationist in the Estherville office.

Ehlers, a Moville native, serves both the Emmet and Dickinson county offices.

A graduate of the South Dakota State University ag business program with a minor in agronomy, Ehlers was an engineer’s aide in the Sioux City area NRCS office and later served as soil conservation technician in the NRCS Tipton and Rock Rapids offices.

In his position, Ehlers handles soil conservation, water quality, animal waste and windbreak issues for the district.

Ehlers urges producers to sign up for the conservation stewardship program which is the first step toward green payments. Programs encourage producers to maintain current and expand into additional conservation practices in their operations.

Ehlers and his wife, Julie, and children Lillian and Landon, live in Estherville.

Any producers who have questions for Ehlers about any NRCS programs may call him at 362-2883.
