Pioneer Day Sept. 19

The Emmet County Conservation Foundation will hold its annual Peterson Point Pioneer Day 10 a.m. to 4 p.m Saturday, Sept. 19 at Peterson Point, just south of Wolden Campground.

Peterson Point was settled in 1865 and still has many of the original buildings. A glassed-over exposed wall in the livingroom interior shows the original log structure.

Polish sausages and hot dogs with all the trimmings will be available, along with musical entertainment and a living history reenactment by the Buffalo Ridge Renegades.

Horsedrawn wagon rides will be available, as well as various demonstrations including quilting, spinning, shingle making, blacksmithing and wood carving.

Parking will be available at Wolden Campground just south of the Nature Center. Admission is $2 with 12 and under free.

To get to Wolden Campground, take Highway 9 two miles east from Estherville then take County N32 four miles south to County A33 and go three miles east to County N40 then go two miles south to the T then left to Wolden Campground.
