One man injured in Armstrong house fire

ARMSTRONG – One man was lifeflighted to Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D. following a house fire in Armstrong Saturday evening.

According to a press release from Sheriff Mike Martens, deputies responded to a house fire at 809 A. Avenue in Armstrong at 9:23 p.m. Saturday

Upon arrival, firefighters encountered flames in the front of the home. The fire spread though the house.

Firefighters and a deputy located a male subject in the back of the home and pulled him out. They then began lifesaving measures.

The subject was taken by Armstrong Ambulance and Estherville paramedics to Avera Holy Family in Estherville where he was lifeflighted to Avera McKennan.

An investigation into the fire is being conducted by the Armstrong Fire Department, Emmet County Sheriff’s office and the Iowa State Fire Marshal’s office.

The sheriff’s report said there is no reason to believe this is a fire with suspicious circumstances.

There were no other injuries. The home and most of the contents are considered a total loss.
