A-R board gives tour to ELC board
ARMSTRONG – After holding a tour of industrial technology facilities in the Armstrong building for members of the Estherville Lincoln Central Community School District Board of Education Monday night, the Armstrong-Ringsted Consolidated School District dealt with some school year-end matters.
Superintendent Matt Berninghaus reviewed ITEDs and graduation Sunday and Jim Fitzgerald gave a presentation on technology in the classroom.
The board noted that administration will visit with neighboring school districts in setting the final 2010-2011 class schedule.
Activities director Sandy Tigges reported on the senior trip to Florida. Superintendent Randy Collins thanked the board for its contributions in observance of National School Board Appreciation Week. Collins also noted that all retiring teachers will be given exit interviews.
The board will meet in a closed session 6:30 p.m. Wednesday with North Kossuth and Sentral board members to discuss sharing options.
The board approved reassigning fourth grade to Ringsted for next year. That will put all levels from pre-kindergarten through fourth grade in Ringsted.
In another matter, the board approved membership in the School Improvement Advisory Committee. The board approved a contract with Kimberly Godtland for vocal music and Amy Leach as assistant high-school softball coach. The board accepted the resignation of Sandy Tigges as high-school volleyball coach.
The board approved use of the football field by the Midwest Youth Football League for September through October. Local games for the league, which includes players in third through sixth grades, will be held at Armstrong and Fenton.
The board noted an arbitration date of June 24 with the teachers association.
The next meeting will be 4 p.m. June 22.
