Dogs and cats and dragons?

The usual dogs, cats and rabbits were at the annual Estherville Parks and Recreation Pet Show at Rosewood Manor on Wednesday.

However several non-traditional animals including a horse, a calf, a duck, a hermit crab and a bearded dragon lizard made an appearance at the event.

Thorne, the bearded dragon shown by Travis Meyer, earned several awards including overall bet of show. Thorn also won most unusual pet and was the second smallest.

The second top award went to Holly Enerson’s horse Paige with Baja the rabbit, shown by Carol Daniels placed third.

Elizabeth Simon’s dog Buttrerball won both biggest dog and best trick. LeRoy Huntley’s dog Oreo earned the smallest dog award and Carol Huntley’s dog Trixie earned the most-well behaved award.

At 18 pounds, Karen Bradley’s cat Pumpkin earned the biggest and best-looking cat awards.

A majority of pet show participants were members of the Estherville High Flyers 4-H Club.

Other awards given were as follows:

Softest: Baja (rabbit) Carol Daniels

Biggest: Paige (horse) Holly Enerson

Jason Enerson’s hermit crab was another unusual showing at the pet show.

Smallest: Hermie (hermit crab) Jason Enerson

Best dress: FFA (calf) Jason Enerson

Loudest: Donald (duck) Joseph Enerson

Quietest: Jackie (rabbit) – Holly Enerson

Best looking: Snowball (white chicken) Brianna Enerson

Well-behaved: Red (red chicken) Holly Enerson
