Estherville Finance Commitee moves ahead with pool evaluation
Estherville city officials have begun the process of evaluating what can be done with the outdoor pool.
On Thursday, the Estherville Finance Committee approved a bid of $5,600 from Larkin Aquatics of Kansas City, Mo., to evaluate the facility and make recommendations on what can be done to improve the pool.
City administrator Penny Clayton said Larkin Aquatics designed the current pool.
Parks and Recreation Director Dave Spurgin also recommended Larkin Aquatics receive the bid.
‘They seem to listen to what we say and will go a good job of evaluating what we have,” Spurgin said.
In other related business with the Parks and Recreation Department, the finance committee approved the low bid of $105.074.41 from Play and Park Structures for playground equipment and Lincoln Park.
At its meeting last month, the Parks and Recreation Board approved a recommendation the city use Play and Park Structures.
The first phase of the project will cost $72,811.93 with $65,000 provided by Excel! Estherville. The remainder of the project will be completed in the next budget year.
City officials anticipate the playground equipment, which is handicap-accessible, will be installed this year.
In other business, the finance committee tabled discussion of wastewater treatment plant backwash lagoon repair proposals until the regular city council meeting Tuesday in the council chambers at city hall.
