Gospel on the Square coming

The Second Annual Gospel on the Square will be start at 4 p.m., Saturday, July 17, on First Avenue North in Estherville.

The event will feature individuals and groups from the region performing various types of gospel music.

The Master of Ceremonies duties’ will be provided by Pastor Doug Burton. The event will continue through the evening hours with approximately 20-minute sets.

Headlining the event will be Loren Paulson a native of Esherville. He currently lives in Kansas City, Mo.

An accomplished performer who is part of several musical groups including the Dentairs, the Sensational Soul Company, and the Spectacle, Paulson currently plays bass in his church’s praise band and sings with a gospel quartet.

“We welcome anyone and everyone to join us on the Square for this wonderful way to celebrate gospel music,” said chairman Steve Danielson. “It will be a relaxing day for anyone to sit back and enjoy the awesome talent in the region, the beautiful Iowa weather and have a bite to eat.”

So bring your lawn chairs.

There will be pizza, soda and popcorn available for purchase.

The event will appear live on Channel 3 for Estherville residents. Gospel on the Square is sponsored by the Estherville Area Chamber of Commerce and Excel! Estherville Arts & Culture Committee.
