Ringsted man charged in burglary investigation

Emmet County Sheriff Mike Martens reports that burglary and theft charges have been filed against a Ringsted man following an investigation into the burglary of five homes in Ringsted.

The burglaries occurred during April and May of 2010. In all of the burglaries prescription drugs were taken and in one of the burglaries a wallet containing cash, credit cards and identification were taken.

According to Martens, William Carl Wolfert, 21, of Ringsted was charged with five counts of burglary in the third degree, a class (D) felony and one count of theft in the fourth degree a serious misdemeanor.

Wolfert made an initial appearance in front of the Emmet County Magistrate Friday, July 30 and was released.
