New chamber director sought
The search is underway for a new executive director for the Estherville Area Chamber of Commerce.
Current Chamber Executive Dusty Embree has resigned her post after 6 1/2 years of service.
“It is a bittersweet departure for me and my family. We have truly made Estherville our home and we love the people here,” Embree said
Over the last six years under Embree’s leadership, the Chamber through its strong volunteer base has completed many noteworthy projects, including: working to pass the hotel motel tax to be used for community promotion and tourist attractions to bring additional revenue into local businesses; expanding the Sweet Corn Days Festival; building new gateway signs at the entrances to the community; adding value to Chamber memberships and recruiting new members; assisting with the community-wide strategic plan and working in conjunction with Excel! Estherville and the City of Estherville on projects including beautification, faade improvements and recreation development.
“I am proud of the Chamber’s achievements; we have great volunteers who work hard to make things happen. I am excited to keep in touch with Estherville, and see the big accomplishments I know will happen over the next several years,” Embree said.
“Our board was sad to learn that Dusty will be leaving us, but we know this is a positive move for her and her family,” 2011 Chamber Board Chairman Ron Menendez said. “We very much appreciate her efforts here since 2004. She has been a valuable asset for our community and she will be missed.
“We have begun the process of finding a replacement director. I’m certain there are other dynamic individuals out there that will help our Chamber and Community grow and prosper, and we will find the right one.”
