By Staff | Mar 15, 2011

Estherville swimming pool rates will likely be increased in 2011 pending action by the city council.

The Estherville Parks and Recreation Board is recommending increase the rates, which according to director Dave Spurgin, haven’t been increased since the 1990s.

The proposed increase is 50 cents for the daily rate- $1 to $1.50 for children and $1.50 to $2.50 for adults.

The proposed increase for season passes is a $5 hike for both child and adult passes which makes the new rates $20 and $25, respectively.

The Parks and Recreation Board doesn’t have the authority to increase the rates, just to make the recommendation. City council will consider the rate increase recommendation at an upcoming meeting.

In other business, the Parks and Recreation Board approved a request to reserve the southwest corner of Library Square for the Relay for Life Team Anderson. The group will serve meals in conjunction with the Black Knights Cruise Ins on May 6, July 1 and Sept. 2.

The board also approved to roll over $219 received from AAU into the Little League traveling fund.
