Lending a helping hand

A 2009 Estherville Lincoln Central graduate can be found online on flikr®. PFC Janette M Lundquist, daughter of Renee and Jeff Kautz of Estherville, joined the Storm Lake National Guard unit in January 2008. Above Lundquist hands out five-kilogram bags of flour to local Musahi villagers. The humanitarian aid mission was a joint ANP and coalition effort to provide blankets, jackets, ear muffs, gloves, socks, cooking oil, rice, beans, sugar and flour—enough to help 500 families. It is the third of its type to the local area in the recent months with two more missions scheduled before the end of summer. Jeff Kautz said his daughter stands out with her blond hair. “Everyone stops to look at her,” he said. Jeff said the Storm Lake unit was deployed in July 2010 and was scheduled to be deployed for 400 days. This photo can be found online at www.flikr.com/photos/soldiersmediacenter/5413085231.
