A second Estherville Lincoln Central administrator will be leaving the district at the end of the school year.

ELC Middle School Principal Mike Peterson has submitted his resignation, which the school board will act on at Monday’s meeting. Peterson’s resignation comes on the heels of superintendent Dick Magnuson’s retirement.

In his resignation letter, Peterson said he has accepted a position as superintendent of Wapello Community Schools.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed my six years spent at ELC and I am confident that the changes we have made for the benefit of the students will continue under new building leadership,” Peterson stated in his letter. “You are truly fortunate to have a world class faculty and staff working with your students. Time and time again, they have demonstrated their willingness to do whatever it takes to help kids succeed.

“Thank you for giving me the chance to work with the students of ELC. I have many fond memories that I will carry with me as my family ventures into southwest Iowa.”

Mike’s wife Molly Peterson also has submitted her resignation as elementary music teacher and will move with her husband to southwest Iowa.

Other resignations on the school board agenda for Monday are Sandy Fandel, drill team coach; Austin Skrepak, elementary teacher associate, Josh Schaben, fifth grade teacher, Jenica Arends, MS/EL teacher associate; and Alyssa Schaben, third grade teacher.
