County website to get updated

By Staff | May 18, 2011

The Emmet County Board of Supervisors Tuesday approved having Morphew Studios update the county’s website.

Larry and Alan Morphew appeared before the board with the proposal which calls for redesigning the website for $1,500 to $1,800, a project that would take about two weeks. Alan Morphew said future maintenance would be $50 a month for up to three hours work.

Larry said he, Alan, and Sarah Morphew, Alan’s wife, use hypertext markup language in designing websites. He noted a lot of problems with websites designed in Front Page, the program used to design the county’s current Web site.

“They don’t work,” Larry said, noting problems, particularly on a Macintosh platform. “I certainly wouldn’t use it on a professional website,” Larry said of Front Page.

When Bev Juhl, board chair, asked about posing election night results, Larry said they would be posted immediately. He said his company now handles the Arnolds Park and Okoboji websites. In addition, they’ve done work for the University of Kansas and in California.

“You either have a maintained website or you have none,” said supervisor Alan Madden, moving that the board approve the proposal which the board approved.
