Clark running write-in campaign for Ward 2 seat

Lifelong Estherville resident Julie Clark is running a write-in campaign for the open Estherville City Council Ward 2 seat.

Ward 2 is bounded by Sixth Street on the east and Central Avenue to the south.

Clark, a science lab assistant at the Iowa Lakes Community College Estherville campus, is running because of her growing involvement in local politics. When the Ward 2 seat opened, she saw that as a public service opportunity. Clark has also worked in local and state campaigns.

“I like the course Estherville is currently taking,” said Clark. She would like to continue the growth fostered by the Estherville Area Chamber of Commerce and Excel Estherville. “I just wish to return the gift back to the community,” Clark said.

Clark also observes an economic resurgence for Estherville.

“It’s starting to come back around,” said Clark. “It’s a slow growth but it’s a growth nonetheless. It’s not a community run by a few elites. It’s everybody working together. People haven’t given up on Estherville.”

Clark underscored that she has no specific political agendas.

“It’s not my intention to change anything,” said Clark. “I want to work on what’s best for Estherville and continue to go forward.”

Clark is an active member of the Emmet County Republicans, Engage Estherville for Christ, LUVIowa, Estherville Cable Commission, IAWATER and Emmet County Volunteer Network.

Clark and her husband, John, have two children – John Jr. and Jill.
