Hy-Vee Market Cafe open for business

With the recent opening of the Hy-Vee Market Cafe the Estherville Hy-Vee is now able to offer a full-service restaurant where the goal is to serve great food at a great value in a great atmosphere.

Open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. seven days a week with Sunday brunch from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Hy-Vee Market Cafe has added more service to the dining experience than customers experienced previously “which is what Hy-Vee is all about,” according to store director Darin Kriech.

Customers find a quieter, more intimate atmosphere with full service. “Great food at a great value in a great atmosphere,” is how Kriech describes it. Everything on the menu is made-to-order with fresh ingredients.

Customers can of course still select offerings from the traditional hot case and salad case as before, and be seated in the Hy-Vee Market Cafe.

Vee is actually among the first five stores that were remodeled to accommodate either a Hy-Vee Market Cafe or a Hy-Vee Market Grille – a larger version seating approximately 150 customers.

For starters, customers might check out the appetizers that include colossal wings; chicken tenders; nachos; spinach artichoke dip; onion strings; chicken quesadilla; Asian trio of firecracker shrimp, crab rangoon and egg rolls; firecracker shrimp; or the Italian duo, three sausage rolls and three pepperoni pinwheels served with the house marinara.

Customers might also choose from a variety of salads, including the house salad with chicken, shrimp or salmon; Asian chicken salad; and Caesar salad.

A full complement of hefty sandwiches include a reuben; buffalo chicken; pulled pork; pork tenderloin; Cuban; half-pound cheeseburger; peanut butter burger; and the rise and shine burger with egg, Canadian bacon and smoked gouda.

Flatbread entrees include tomato mozzarella, barbecue chicken and meat cravers or the create-your-own flatbread with toppings such as pepperoni, Italian sausage, pork sausage, Canadian bacon, onions, peppers, tomatoes, mushrooms and black or green olives.

Kriech said the Hy-Vee Market Cafe will now be offering weekly specials as well.

Daily specials include:

n Monday – $5 wings.

n Tuesday – Kids eat free. Limit one free kids meal per adult entree purchased.

n Wednesday – half-price glasses of wine. $2 off all flatbread pizzas.

n Thursday – $1 off all burgers.

n Friday – Fish and chips, $10.

n Saturday – Prime rib dinner, $15.

n Sunday – Get any two burgers, salads or flatbread pizzas, plus share an appetizer, just $20. 2 p.m. to close.
