After serving Estherville for 17 years, Ed and Jolene Greving are selling the Sears store at 408 Central Ave. to Sears Hometown and Outlet Stores.

In making the announcement, Ed said he did not renew the contract he had with Sears.

“We just decided it was time for us to exit,” he said.

The Grevings will continue to own the building and lease the building to Sears as it takes over transition and markets the business. Ed said leasing or buying the building are both options for the new owner.

“I’m going to take a small vacation,” said Ed. July 5 will be the last day for the Grevings’ ownership of the business, but Jolene will continue as an employee.

“Nothing will change – just a new face,” said Ed. He said the basic difference is that he will not be at the business.

“Jolene and I appreciate the past business we’ve had from customers and the support we’ve gotten from the community,” said Ed.

He said Sears will send in an interim manager and area district manager. Current employees will stay on, and there will be more openings.
