Three people face drug charges
Emmet County Sheriff Mike Martens reports the arrest of three people on drug charges as the result of two separate traffic stops recently.
On Friday, June 27, an Emmet County Sheriff’s Deputy stopped a vehicle leaving Armstrong northbound on Highway 15 shortly before 2 p.m. that day for a traffic violation. Upon investigation by the sheriff’s deputy, it was discovered that the passenger in the vehicle Erik Mennen, 20, of Fairmont, Minn., was in possession of a controlled substance. Mennen was taken into custody and booked into the Emmet County Jail where he was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The following day, Saturday, June 28, an Emmet County Sheriff’s Deputy stopped a vehicle near the intersection of Highway 9 and Highway 15 in Armstrong for a traffic violation at approximately 2:23 p.m. Upon investigation at the scene, controlled substances and drug paraphernalia were located in the vehicle. As a result of this discovery the driver of the vehicle Anthony Kruger, 27, of Fairmont and Maddisen Card, 21, of Armstrong were placed under arrest and transported to the Emmet County Jail for processing. Kruger was charged with speeding (34 mph in a 20 mph zone), possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Card was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
