The Emmet County Conservation Board used its Emmet County Community Foundation grant of $5,000 to purchase equipment for their youth archery program and to buy additional kayaks for checkout.

Naturalist Gunnar Johnson said, “the Nature Center Foundation Board was able to purchase six new kayaks, two stand-up paddle boards, implement a new watercraft rental policy, and acquire new archery equipment to expand the archery program that we currently offer to the youth of Emmet County.”

Johnson added the conservation?board is grateful for all the support and donations that have been provided by members of the community.

“We have already used our new kayaks in events such as the Sweet Corn Days float, and various paddling events offered through county conservation.”

In the wake of budget challenges, Johnson said every bit of support will help the conservation board continue to provide the outdoor programs it offers to residents of the county.
