Going platinum

After attaining the Bronze Level a year ago in Caterpillar Quality Certification, GKN Armstrong Wheels skipped past silver and gold and went right to platinum this year.

On Tuesday, Caterpillar representatives presented GKN the Caterpillar Quality Certification at the Platinum Level. This Platinum certification reflects zero defective parts and 98 percent on time delivery to all CAT locations in the previous 12 months. This prestigious award places the GKN Iowa Plants in the top 3 percent of CAT’s 6,000 suppliers and demonstrates the team members proactive desire to “Delight the Customer.”

“When you think of Caterpillar, you think ‘It’s big, it’s yellow and it’s quality,” said Caterpillar Procurement Manager Brent Allen in presenting the award to GKN officials and employees. “And quality is No. 1. You’ve demonstrated quality equipment to our customers.”

GKN Quality Manager Tim Skrepak first thanked God and family for the achievement and then told the assembled employees, “This is your award. I thank all of you.”

In their press statement, GKN officials said they are extremely proud of their employees’ contributions in earning Platinum status. It is an incredible achievement and the award belongs to all the GKN employees.

Caterpillar representatives Ben Ward- Global Buyer, Rachel Lutz- LTDP, Brent Allen- PCE were on site in Estherville to present the award to the team on Tuesday.

Also present for the award ceremony were several local community and business members including Iowa state representative John Wills, Estherville City Administrator Penny Clayton, Joanne Follon and Kiley Miller from the Iowa Lakes Corridor, Jolene Rogers from Iowa Lakes Community College, Avera Holy Family CEO Dale Hustedt, Estherville Chamber Director Lexie Ruter and Estherville Area Economic Development Director Lyle Hevern.

CAT Ziegler provided a Caterpillar loader made in Clayton, N.C. equipped with GKN Armstrong Wheels and for sale in their Jackson, Minn. location.
