Iowa Lakes plans 50th anniversary celebration

By Staff | Oct 16, 2016

The 50th Anniversary Celebration for Iowa Lakes Community College will be held the evening of Saturday, Oct. 29 at the SERT Facility, 2421 Seventh Ave. S. on the Estherville Campus.

Doors will open at 6:30 p.m.

A welcome from President Valerie Newhouse and a proclamation from Board President Janice Lund will take place at 7:15 p.m.

The Scott Larsen Band will begin playing at 7:30 p.m., featuring Scott Larsen on vocals and acoustic guitar, Scott Sorbo on bass and Nate Newhouse on drums. The band is based in Algona and plays acoustic rock.

Tickets are $20 per person.

Delicious appetizers and desserts are included in the ticket price with a cash bar available.

The public is invited to attend this community event.

The attire is Business Festive. According to Laura Haburn, Facilities Specialist at Iowa Lakes, “Some people like to have an occasion to dress up for, and we’d like to provide that for them if they wish. It’s really fun for some. For our Dancing with the Stars event, we had people dress up, while some were more casual.”

Individuals must be 21 or over to be admitted.

There will be a special guest appearance from Captain Jack, Iowa Lakes’ mascot. He will be there from 6:30 p.m. 8 p.m.

Get your picture taken with Captain Jack in the Photo Booth or use one of the many props available.

Please call 712-362-0467 or email events@iowalakes.edu to order tickets.

Tickets are also available to purchase at any business office of the Algona, Emmetsburg, Estherville, Spencer or Spirit Lake campuses, or in the Administrative office on Sixth Street in Estherville.
