Pool options to be revealed

By Staff | Nov 16, 2016

A few things continued percolating after Monday night’s Estherville Parks &?Recreation?Board meeting Monday night.

The board is anticipating the presentation by the pool committee at its December meeting. This is the first chance to see the putative plans for the popular pool project.

In other business, the board considered a memorial gift in the range of $2,500, which would be an additional gift from a local family. Possible uses of the gift could be a swingset at Spurgin Park or a basketball hoop and concrete pad at Lincoln Park. The family is still considering the best use of their donation.

City administrator Penny Clayton also reported the city’s move to hire a maintenance supervisor for the parks. This would be a working supervisor who also organizes the city maintenance crews and performs other duties. This hire will be announced after the receipt of a signed, accepted offer and contract.

Clayton also reported that new equipment has been ordered for South 10th Street Park.

The board discussed tabling the renovation of the Joe Hoye Park building until the decision has been made about the aquatic center.

The next Parks &?Rec Board meeting will be at Iowa Lakes Community College room 74 at 5:30 p.m., Dec. 12.
