ELC school board, teachers union agree on two-year contract
The Estherville Lincoln Central School Board tentatively approved a two-year contract with the ELC Education Association in a special session on Monday. The two sides exchanged initial proposals last Friday. The ELC Education Association is the local teachers’ union.
ELC superintendent Tara Paul said the package is 3.49 percent or $223,000 for next year. The following year is a 3.06 percent increase or $202,000. That includes insurance increases.
Under the agreement, the teachers will receive a $510 increase in the base salary for 2017-18 and a $590 increase in 2018-19.
The teachers ratified the agreement on Sunday.
Also Monday, the board approved using Sanborn Trust funds to purchase new high school marching band uniforms at a cost of $30,000. The current uniforms were purchased in 1998.
