Firefighters battle grass fire
WALLINGFORD – The Wallingford Fire Department was paged to a grass fire Monday afternoon southwest of Wallingford.
According to Wallingford Fire Chief, the page came at just after 1:50 p.m. To 3971 240th Street. Upon arrival, Fisher said the fire was spreading quickly to other neighboring grassland fields. The fire did reach another farm site. While one building was already down, it did catch fire. Firefighters also used tankers to help stop the fire from spreading or jumping to other neighboring fields.
Firefighters from Estherville, Graettinger and Terril were called to assist. Firefighters were on scene about three hours.
Wallingford and Estherville Ambulance Service also responded and the Emmet County Sheriff’s Department assisted at the scene.
