Another Emmet County resident loses life to COVID-19

Thursday, the Iowa Department of Public Health reported an additional Emmet County resident has died from COVID-19, bringing the total number of deaths to 14.

Over the 24 hours leading up to Thursday morning, Oct. 15, Emmet County had eight positive tests from a total of 19, for a 24-hour positivity rate of 42.11%. The total number of positive cases is 367.

The cumulative positivity rate since the first reported Emmet County case May 13 is 14.49% and the 14-day rolling positivity rate is 28.57%. Two-hundred forty-one (241) individuals in Emmet County have recovered. There are still 32 positive cases of COVID-19 at the Good Samaritan Center. Four of those cases are listed as recovered.

The state of Iowa currently has 21,603 active cases. Emmet County has 112.

RMCC Region 3, of which Emmet County is part, has 125 patients currently hospitalized. The highest number of hospitalizations to this point happened a week ago, Oct. 8, when there were 129.

RMCC Region 3 reports 25 patients in its intensive care units.

There were 17 new hospitalizations in Region 3 and 395 inpatient beds are available.
