Rotary, Kiwanis compete to help ELC food bank
The Estherville Rotary Club and Estherville Kiwanis have joined forces in a friendly competition to gather donations of food and money for the Estherville Lincoln Central High School food bank. The food bank is an extension of a local effort previously known as Pack Away Hunger, which was taken over in the school by the school counselors and student success team, and has been expanded to include family sized items.
Non-perishable items such as cereal, juice boxes, fruits and vegetables, pasta and rice mixes, chicken or hamburger helper, canned meat, pop tarts, soups are needed as well as soap, shampoo, deodorant, and toilet paper, body washes, and feminine products.
Donations can be dropped off at Smart Technology Team Solutions at 500 Central Ave. in Estherville. The clubs are also accepting cash donations to shop for additional items through Nov. 23. The Avera Holy Family Hospital Foundation will take donations online on behalf of Rotary or Kiwanis. The effort will also accept grocery gift cards to HyVee or Fareway to be handed out to students.
