Council meets Monday
The Estherville city council will meet Monday, March 1, 2021 at 5 p.m in the council chambers of city hall and also over Zoom teleconferencing. Due to the COVID-19 Health Crisis and to comply with social distancing requirements, we will be hosting an electronic meeting, as permitted by Section 21.8 of the Iowa Code. The council will hold a public hearing on the 2021 street resurfacing project and consider a resolution approving plans and specifications and form of contract and a resolution awarding the contract.
The council will consider a zoning reclassification ordinance for the area of Third Ave. North and North 5th Street from single family (R-1) to multi-family (R-3).
The council will also review annual reports from the water plant and electric distribution and generation, applications requesting property tax exemption on improvements as defined in the city’s urban revitalization for Randy Helmers Construction 1103 S. 12th St., consider increasing the solid waste rate from $6.50 to $7.50 per month, and consider a request from Relay for Life to close First Ave. N. between 6th and 7th Streets and the east and west side on-street parking for their Saturday, June 5 event.
The council will also consider a request from VFW Post 3388 and Black Knights Car Club to close North 7th Street between Central Ave. and 2nd Ave. and First Ave. N between 7th and 9th Streets for the VFW’s 100th Anniversary Celebration on Sat. June 5.
