Armstrong special election May 11

The Emmet County Auditor’s Office has received a petition requesting a special election for the Mayor position. The special election will be held on May 11, 2021. Due to recent legislation (SF413) there are changes you need to be aware of regarding early voting.

1. In Person Voting will begin April 21, 2021 and end May 10, 2021.

2. Absentee Voting by mail has a shortened window. We can only mail ballots to you if we receive a request and we can only mail them from April 21, 2021 to April 26, 2021.

3. The Drop Box at the Courthouse will not be able to be utilized this time for delivering Absentee ballots due to restrictions on drop boxes imposed by SF413.

4. Delivery of your absentee ballots can be made two ways (1) bring to the Auditor’s office prior to 8pm on May 11, 2021 – Election Day. and (2) by mailing it to the Auditor’s Office but it must be received no later than 8 pm on May 11, 2021 – Election Day.

ELECTION DAY VOTING:

Polls will be open from 7:00 am to 8:00 pm in the Armstrong Community Center.

CANDIDATES:

Candidates wishing to run for the available position…The Auditor’s Office has packets available along with instructions on how to complete the forms. Our office is open from 8 am – 4:30 pm, Monday thru Friday.

Candidates will need an Affidavit of Candidacy and a Nomination Petition signed by a minimum of 10 eligible electors from the City of Armstrong.

The filing period begins immediately and we highly encourage candidates to complete early as the Auditor’s office has a short turn around on ballot delivery for this election.
