Council approves development change order
In a special meeting Monday, the Estherville city council approved a change order on the Eagle Apartments residential development, which will be located in the old Estherville High School football field. The change order will add $14,800 to the original price of the development, based on the cost of meeting Iowa Department of Natural Resources requirements at the site. City administrator Penny Clayton said the site formerly had a fuel tank buried on the site, but it has been removed. The DNR sent a letter of no further action required, but with the installation of water mains by the city, they expect additional cautionary measures be taken, and that includes switching to a different style of pipe.
