He died Sunday, Nov. 18, 2007, at the Good Samaritan Care Center in Estherville.

Keith L. Anderson, the son of Fred and Buena (Harvego) Anderson, was born Dec. 18, 1935, in Estherville.

Keith grew up on a farm south of Dunnell, Minn., where he began his elementary education in the Dunnell schools. He then attended the Sherburn, Minn., schools, and graduated from Sherburn High School. Keith continued his education at the Estherville Junior College and then Mankato State University in Mankato, Minn. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict attached to the 503 Airborne Infantry Regiment, where he was an army paratrooper. After his honorable discharge from military service he returned to the area.

On Dec. 31, 1957, Keith was united in marriage to JoAnn Winans in Huntington. After their marriage, the couple made their home in Estherville. God blessed this union with four children and five grandchildren. Keith retired from Golden Sun Feeds after 39 years of employment. He always cherished the friends he made while working there. But Keith’s true love was helping little brother Jon with his farming. Spring planting and fall harvest were two of his favorite times of year. Keith was also very active with the Izaak Walton League, where he enjoyed organizing gun shows, teaching hunter safety courses for 18 years, and building camaraderie with fellow members. Keith and JoAnn enjoyed a morning ritual, starting with breakfast out on the town. In his leisure time, he enjoyed collecting guns, hunting, farming, walking his dog, gardening, and spending time with his grandchildren.

He was a member of the Huntington Methodist Church and also the Izaak Walton League, where he had served as president.

Left to cherish Keith’s memory are his wife JoAnn of Estherville; his children, daughter, Kelly Schultz and her husband, Donald, of Estherville; son, Mark Anderson and his wife Sandy, of Windsor, Colo.; son, Mike Anderson of Estherville; and daughter, Kathy Steele and her husband, Lee of Estherville; five grandchildren, Amy Anderson; Brandon Steele; Brittany Steele, Michael Anderson; and Zachery Anderson; and brother, Jon A. Anderson and his wife Cindy of Dunnell; several nieces and nephews; three brother’s-in-law, Irv Bandow of Estherville; Vernon Kuehnhold of Denison; and Larry Winans of Harlingen, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Dale.
