Josephine M. Davis
ESTHERVILLE — Memorial services for Josephine M. Davis, 92, of Estherville will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, May 1, 2008, at Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Estherville with Pastor Lynn A. Potter officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of the service May 1 at the funeral chapel.
She died Monday, Dec. 10, 2007, at Avera Holy Family Health in Estherville.
Josephine M. Hines, the daughter of Charles E. “Tom” and Mary L. (Hines) Hines, was born May 1, 1916, in Fairmont, Minn.
She received her education in Fairmont Schools and graduated from Fairmont High School. She also attended Estherville Junior College and Drake University and received her bachelor’s degree.
On Jan. 14, 1934, she was united in marriage to Ernest A. Davis in Pekin, Ill. Following their marriage the couple lived in various places throughout the United States including, Port Orchard, Wash.; Granada, Minn.; Armstrong; and Seneca/Fenton. The couple then moved to Estherville where Josephine was employed in the Estherville School District as an elementary school teacher, teaching the sixth grade for 20 years. The couple also managed the Estherville Country Club for eight years.
She was a member of United Methodist Church in Estherville.
She is survived by her two daughters, Betty A. Smith and her husband, David of Tucson, Ariz., and Judy K. Davis of Colorado Springs, Colo.; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Catherine “Tiz” Kinsey of Peoria, Ill.
