Geneva M. Fransdal

ESTHERVILLE–A memorial service for Geneva M. Fransdal, 94, of Estherville, will be held at a later date.

She died Friday, Dec. 21, 2007, at the Good Samaritan Center in Estherville.

Geneva Marie Haugen was born March 18, 1913, on a farm in Newton Township in Winnebago County to Joseph T. and Betsey Louise (Erickson) Haugen.

In March of 1914 they moved to Rake. Geneva attended the Rake schools and graduated from Rake High School in 1931. She attended Waldorf Jr. College in Forest City and graduated in 1933. She was a member of the Phi Theta Kappa. She then taught in rural schools in Lincoln Township in Winnebago County.

On Dec. 23, 1935, she was united in marriage to Waldemar C. Fransdal in Estherville. They made their home in Estherville. Waldemar died in 1994.

She is survived by her two sons, Merrill Fransdal of Estherville; Wayne Fransdal and his wife, Barbara of Excelsior, Minn.; two daughters, Susan Brubaker and her husband, Alan of Oro Valley, Ariz.; Elaine Jensen and her husband, Edward of Wallowa, Ore.; 19 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and one brother, James Haugen.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, infant daughter, Esther Karen, son John Fransdal, two daughters, Joanne Gibson and Betty Heidecker and her sisters, Myrtle Schneider, Agnes Nieth, Lillian Morris and one brother, Alvin Haugen.

Elizabeth J. Larson

FAIRMONT, Minn.–A Celebration of Life Services for Elizabeth J. Larson, 49, of DePere, Wis., and formerly of Fairmont, Minn., will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 28, 2007, at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Fairmont, with the Rev. EvaLyn Carlson officiating. Interment will be held at East Side Cemetery in Estherville.

Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, at the Hanlon Residence at 402 S. Prairie St. in Fairmont.

She died Sunday, Nov. 11, 2007, at her home in DePere after a 12-year battle with cancer.
