ESTHERVILLE — Funeral services for Cart Danielson, 83, of Estherville will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, 2007, at First Presbyterian Church in Estherville with Pastor Mark Gabbard officiating. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday at Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Estherville. Interment will be held at East Side Cemetery in Estherville with military graveside rites by VFW Post 3388 and American Legion Post 91 of Estherville.
He died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2007, at the Good Samaritan Center in Estherville surrounded by his family.
Carl Everett Danielson, the son of Oscar and Bertha (Ponser) Danielson, was born Feb. 23, 1924 in Albert City.
Carl received his education in the Albert City Schools, graduating from Albert City High School in 1941. After graduation, Carl joined the Army and served in WW II. He was a lifetime member of the VFW.
On Oct. 24, 1946, Carl was united in marriage with Arline Strodtmann at the Fonda Presbyterian Church. After their marriage, Carl worked as a grocery store butcher in Fonda and Varina for six years. The couple farmed west of Varina for six years. On March 9, 1957, they moved to Estherville where Carl worked for John Morrell until his retirement in 1985. During that time he held numerous positions in the Presbyterian Church.
Carl enjoyed fishing and bowling. During his retirement years, he took charge of the cribbage tournaments while wintering in Florence, Ariz.
Left to cherish Carl's memory are his wife, Arline; four daughters, Elaine (Dennis) Groth of Newell, Deanna (Dale) Lass of Dubuque, Carolyn (Ev) Leifson of Palm Springs, Calif., and Jane (Gene) Lewis of Gilbert, Ariz.; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Alan (Janice) Danielson of Storm Lake.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; and one sister.
