ORD, Neb.–Funeral services for Ken Kollasch, 64, of Ord, Neb., and formerly of Estherville, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 4, 2008, at the Ord Memorial Chapel. Interment will be held at Ord City Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, at the Ord Memorial Chapel.
He died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2007.
Kenneth was born Oct. 21, 1943, in Algona to Orville and Elizabeth (McMurray) Kollasch. He was raised in Estherville where he also received his education, graduating from high school in 1961.
Ken owned and operated a flower shop and greenhouse in Estherville. He was also active on the Estherville City Council. He then moved to Yankton, S.D., and worked on construction. Ken moved to Burwell, Neb., and worked on the Calamus Dam Project.
In 1984 he was united in marriage to Martha “Marty” Schimmer. In 1985, the couple moved to Ord. For 15 years Ken worked at the North Loup RPP & Irrigation. He also owned and operated Ken’s Landscaping and Snow Removal.
His hobbies included fishing, hunting, gardening and yard work.
Survivors include his wife Marty of Ord; a son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Sarah Kollasch of Estherville; five daughters, Kristy Kollasch of Spring Valley, Wis., Corenia and Brent Walz of Rochester, Minn., Shelley and Todd Sump of Lexington, S.C., Misty and Jason Easkins of Yankton and Michelle Kollasch-Carter of Sioux Falls, S.D.; 10 grandchildren; two sisters, Kaye Kruse of Estherville and Denise Hecht of Yankton; and a brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Eva Kollasch of Smithland.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Orville Kollasch Jr.; and a niece, Tina Lee Hecht.
