Marietta Holiday

ESTHERVILLE–Funeral services for Marietta Holiday, 81, of Estherville, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 4, 2008, at the United Methodist Church in Estherville with Pastor Lynn Potter officiating. Interment will be held at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Spirit Lake.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, at the Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Estherville.

She died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2008, at Avera Holy Family Health in Estherville.

Marietta May Gibson, the daughter of Daniel R. and Iva M. (Hurley) Gibson, was born Nov. 22, 1926, in Spencer.

On Aug. 3, 1947, Marietta was united in marriage to William “Bill” Holiday in Dickens. They lived in Gillett Grove, Spirit Lake, Onawa and Estherville. Marietta enjoyed playing the piano and organ for her own pleasure. She also enjoyed giving music lessons to young people and directing young people's church choir in her earlier years.

She has served on many United Methodist Women offices and church committees.

She leaves her husband, Bill of Estherville; daughter, Evelyn Gray and her husband, Craig of Spirit Lake; granddaughter, Jennifer Pangburn and her husband, Justin of Estherville; and three great-grandchildren, Christian Wolff, Melinda Wolff and Matthew Wolff and his wife, JoAnne.
