ESTHERVILLE — Funeral services for Lorinda Heeren, 82, of Sioux Falls, S.D., will be held 3 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Estherville with Pastor Glenn S. Bohmer officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church only on Thursday. Interment will be at East Side Cemetery in Estherville.
She died Monday, Jan. 14, 2008, at the Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls.
Lorinda Wilhelmina Emma Tecken was born June 21, 1925, to Edward and Marie Tecken near Steen, Minn. She worked on the family farm while attending school. After completing eighth grade she continued to assist on the farm. She married Harry Heeren on June 29, 1947. They moved to Canton, S.D., to assist Harry's brother with his greenhouse. They lived various places including Spencer and Emmetsburg before settling in Estherville. Lorinda worked as a dishwasher for the Estherville Public Schools for many years while she raised her family. She was a longtime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. Harry passed away in 1986. In 1997 she moved to Sioux Falls to enjoy her grandson. She was was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and her strong faith and love of God made her a wonderful person and a blessing to all who knew her.
She is survived by two daughters, Lynelle Heeren of Holyoke, Mass., and Lula (Erik) Arlton of Sioux Falls; a grandson, Matthew Arlton; a sister, Elfrieda Allen of Marietta Ga.; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.
