ESTHERVILLE–Funeral services for Romaine Peterson, 74, of Estherville, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 21, 2008, at the Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Estherville, with Pastor Warren Baker officiating. Interment will be at High Lake Cemetery in Wallingford.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 20, at the funeral chapel in Estherville.
He died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2008, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D.
Romaine Everett Peterson, the son of Eddie and Rose (McBride) Peterson, was born Dec. 14, 1933, in Estherville.
He received his education in the Graettinger schools and graduated from Graettinger High School.
On Sept. 4, 1954, Romaine was united in marriage to Wanda Freed in Jackson, Minnesota. Following their marriage the couple made their home in Estherville and Romaine was employed at Tobin Packing and later Estherville Sand and Gravel. Then he went to John Morrell and Company in Estherville where he worked for many years. He had the recycle route in Estherville, drove bus for Regional Transit Authority and worked as an attendant at Splash and Sparkle Car Wash. In his spare time, Romaine also enjoyed helping Marv Myher do farm work. In his leisure time he enjoyed bowling, where he bowled on the same team for 36 years, the sponsors being Imperial Lanes and Mac's Top Hat, with his greatest accomplishment being picking up the very difficult 7-10 split. He also enjoyed golf, camping and being in the outdoors.
Grateful for having shared Romaine's life are his wife, Wanda of Estherville; his children, Richard Peterson of Estherville, Rhonda Peterson of Estherville Ramona Westergard and her husband, Earl of Graettinger, Robert Peterson of Estherville, Ryan Peterson of Estherville, Ramie Peterson of Estherville; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
