Eloa F. Cook

ESTHERVILLE — Funeral services for Eloa Farm Cook, 83, of Estherville will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, 2008, at United Methodist Church in Estherville with Pastor Lynn A. Potter officiating. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Estherville. Interment will be at Crown Hill Cemetery in Ruthven.

She died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2008, at the Good Samaritan Center in Estherville.

Eloa Fern (Johnson) Cook, the daughter of Conrad and Mary (Capener) Johnson, was born April 20, 1924, in Ruthven.

She graduated from the Lake Center High School in 1941. Later Eloa attended nurse’s training at Sioux City where she met Leslie.

On June 11, 1944, she was united in marriage to Leslie Cook at the Methodist Church in Ruthven. After their marriage, the couple farmed in the Ruthven and Estherville area. The couple later made their home in Estherville. Leslie died Jan. 29, 1993.

Eloa was a member of the United Methodist Church in Estherville. Eloa enjoyed reading, fishing, going to auctions, and especially spending time with her family.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Susan Vick and her husband, Larry, of Garland, Texas, Nancy Gorman and her husband, Rick, of Portland, Ore., Mary Lou Rolfson and her husband, Rolly, of Estherville, Janice Helmke and her husband, Al, of Ruthven, and William Cook of Menahga, Minn.; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two brothers, Warren and Merlyn.
