Earl John Westergard
GRAETTINGER — Funeral services for Earl John Westergard, 46, of Graettinger will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2008, at United Methodist Church in Graettinger with Pastor Michael L. Shaffer officiating. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Graettinger. Interment will be at Valley View Cemetery in Graettinger.
He died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2008, at Avera Holy Family Health in Estherville as the result of injuries sustained in a snowmobile accident.
Earl John Westergard, the son of Richard and Janet (Davidson) Westergard, was born March 3, 1961, in Hartley.
He received his education in the Graettinger schools and graduated in 1979.
On July 2, 2004, he was united in marriage to Ramona Leininger in Reno, Nev. The couple made their home near Graettinger. Earl had been employed at Reinders Implement, Estherville Honda Shop, and he also farmed and raised cattle. Earl enjoyed tractors and farming; riding motorcycles, four wheeling, drag racing, and snowmobiling. He especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Graettinger and also belonged to a snowmobile association.
Grateful for having shared Earl’s life are his wife, Mona, of Graettinger; daughter, Kristi Westergard, and her daughter, Ava, of Estherville; step-children, Jason Leininger, Janet Leininger and their children; his parents, Janet and Richard Westergard of Graettinger; one brother, Steven Westergard and his wife, Laura, of Estherville; and one sister, Coral Westergard, of Stockton, Calif.
Preceding Earl in death were his grandparents and two brothers.
