Ronald V. Hansen
FAIRMONT, Minn. — Funeral Services for Ronald V. Hansen, 76, of Fairmont will be held on Thursday, Feb. 28, 2008, at 10:30 am at the Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont. Burial will be held at a later date. Full Military Honors will be performed by the Lee C. Prentice American Legion Post 36 and Martin County V.F.W. Post 1222 following the service at the Lakeview Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 27, from 5-7 p.m. with a prayer service held at 7 p.m. at the Lakeview Funeral Home of Fairmont.
Ronald died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2008, at the Fairmont Medical Center-Mayo Health Systems in Fairmont.
Ronald Vercil Hansen was born on Aug. 17, 1931, in Iowa City to parents Earl McIntire and Virginia (Hansen) Dahna. He attended school in Armstrong and graduated from Armstrong High School. Following his graduation, Ronald enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served his country while stationed in Korea. In 1954, Ronald received his honorable discharge and returned to the area.
In 1957, Ronald married Carol Edhlund in Fairmont where he fathered one daughter and helped raise another. Ron later married Margaret (Peggy) Meinjohans in Fairmont where he took another five children into his life.
Ron worked over the road most of his life as a trucker for Drapers Foods until his retirement in 1993. Throughout his life he fully enjoyed fishing and golfing (hole-in-one in 1998) in addition to many other activities in his earlier years to include league bowling, trap shooting, boating, snowmobiling, and spending time outdoors. He valued his time with family and friends. Ron was a member of the St. John Vianney Catholic Church and the Lee C. Prentice American Legion Post 36 and Martin County V.F.W. Post 1222.
He is survived by his seven children: Diana Hansen and S/O Jim Klinkner, Deborah Neal and husband Dennis, Denise Malcolm and husband Lonnie, Donna Berhow and husband Arlo, Anne Keithahn and husband Jim, Doug Meinjohans and wife Paula, and DeeAnna Bakken and S/O Ryan Sokolofsky; 10 grandchildren: Alisa Poe, Megan Neal, Elliott Malcolm, Derrek Malcolm, Kristina Berhow, Jeremy Berhow, Bonnie Halverson, Ashley Halverson, Ben Meinjohans, and Taliah Bakken; six great-grandchildren: Devin, Dylan and Dustin Poe, LaSchelle Johnson, Chloe Garlinghouse, and Carter Halverson; one brother, Raymond Dahna, and wife, Kathy; two sisters, Lorraine Thornburg and husband, Merlin, and Donna Port and husband, Dale; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends. In addition to his parents, Ronald is preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Hansen; ex-wife, Carol Hansen; one grandson, Arlo Robert Berhow; two sisters, Betty Lowenburg and Darlene Olson; five aunts; and three uncles.
