Arthur S. Voetmann

ESTHERVILLE — Funeral services for Arthur S. Voetmann, 87, of Sioux City and formerly of Estherville will be held 1:30 a.m. Thursday, March 6, 2008, at Estherville Lutheran Church with Pastor Susan Stone officiating. Visitation will be 12:30 p.m. Thursday until the time of the service at Estherville Lutheran Church. Interment will be at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Ringsted with military rites by VFW Post 3388 and American Legion Post 91 of Estherville.

He died peacefully, Friday, Feb. 29, 2008, following a lengthy illness in Sioux City where he has resided since 2006.

Arthur S. Voetmann, the son of Axel and Anine (Paulsen) Voetmann, was born June 20, 1920, in Ventura.

Arthur graduated from Ringsted High School in 1938 and began his lifelong farming career. He was united in marriage to Jeanette Rasmussen on Oct. 15, 1943, in Ringsted during his World War II service.

He was an active member of Estherville Lutheran Church and a lifetime member of Estherville VFW Post 3388.

Left to cherish Arthur’s memory are his wife, Jeanette of Sioux City; two daughters, Sheryl (Douglas) Campbell of Sioux City and Susan Hageman of Golden Valley, Minn.; three grandchildren, Philip (Cathy) Campbell, Vanessa (Aaron) Goldsberry, and Stuart Campbell; four great-grandchildren, Evan Campbell, Hannah Campbell, Ashlyn Goldsberry, and Andrew Goldsberry; one sister, Gladys Stavely of Wichita, Kan.; one brother, Axel Voetmann of Ringsted; and friend, Jerry Lundberg of Golden Valley.

Preceding Arthur in death were his parents; brother, Paul; and sisters, Caritta Olson, Virginia Rogert, and Alice Romer.
