Donald B. Mahin Sr.

MARION — Memorial services for Donald B. Mahin, Sr., 81, of Marion will be held 1:30 p.m. Friday, April 11, 2008, at First Christian Church in Estherville with the Rev. Doug Burton officiating and also 2 p.m. Saturday, April 12, 2008, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Robert Kunz. Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home. Interment will be at Linwood Cemetery in Cedar Rapids.

He died Saturday, March 29, 2008, following a long illness at Crestview Acres in Marion.

Donald was born Dec. 12, 1926, in Danbury, the son of Kenneth and Viola (Schumacher) Mahin. He served in the U.S. Army. On Dec. 26, 1948, he was united in marriage to Juanita Billings in Estherville. He farmed for 30 years and spent 18 years in the excavating business in Emmet County.

Donald was a former member and deacon of the First Christian Church in Estherville and currently a member of Marion Christian Church. He also belonged to the Elks Lodge in Estherville.

Survivors include his wife, Juanita; children, Dennis and Margie Mahin of Jacksonville, Fla., Sharon and Keith Mouat of Houston, Texas, Don Mahin, Jr. of Ruthven, and Sheila and Scott Semler of Cedar Rapids; six grandchildren, Amie, Amber, Brandon, Bryan, Matthew, and Darren; seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Darwin and Donna Mahin of Estherville, Bill and Maxine Mahin of Escondito, Calif., and Kenneth and Carol Mahin of Pipestone, Minn.; and sisters, Ardis and Ed Koskovich, of Pipestone, Minn., Bernita and Don Yockey of Sioux City, Karen and Vere Harvey of Estherville, and Vera Yockey of Lake Benton, Minn.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Albert Mahin.
