ESTHERVILLE — Funeral services for Gertrude Ross, 96, of Estherville will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 11, 2008, at Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Estherville with Pastor Lynn A. Potter officiating. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel. Interment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery.
She died Tuesday, April 8, 2008, at Avera Holy Family Health in Estherville.
Gertrude Margaret (Andresen) Ross, the daughter of Louis and Minnie (Warneke) Andresen, was born Jan. 2, 1912, in Paullina. Gertrude attended school in LeSueur and graduated from LeSueur High School.
On March 20, 1937, Gert was united in marriage to Walter Belva Ross. The couple made their home in Estherville where they were engaged in farming. Gert enjoyed being a farm wife and helping Belva on the farm. She also was employed at J.C. Penney in Estherville for 22 years, retiring in 1972. Gert and Belva enjoyed traveling in their leisure time. One of Grandma Gert’s greatest pleasures was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Belva died in 1979. Gert has been a resident of Rosewood Manor for the past 10 due to failing health.
She had been a member of the United Methodist Church in Estherville since 1938. In her younger years she was very active in ladies groups in the church.
Grateful for having shared Gert’s life are her son, Rodney Ross, and his wife, Kathy of Estherville; six granddaughters, Jodi Lynn, Amy Jo, Tracy Ann, Mindy Sue, Bille Jean, and Marcy Dee; 12 great-grandchildren, Chelsey, Brayton, Molly Jo, Nathan, Brooke, Samantha, Savanha, Tyrenn, Katelyn, Nicholas, Sheldon, and Carter.
Gert was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and her siblings.
