Clarence C. ‘Skip’ Shipley

ESTHERVILLE – Funeral services for Clarence C. “Skip” Shipley, 82, of Spirit Lake, formerly of Seattle, Wash., will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 9, at Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Estherville with Pastor Steve Britton officiating. Military graveside rites by VFW Post 3388 and American Legion Post 91 will be at East Side cemetary in Estherville.

He died Saturday, July 5, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral sevice at the funeral chapel.

Clarence C. Shipley, the son of Frank and Blanche (Patterson) Shipley, was born Nov. 6, 1925, in Luverne.

He received his education in the rural country schools. After completing his education, Skip served in the United States Navy during World War II from 1943-1945.

Skip lived and worked most of his life in Iowa, California and the Seattle, Wash., area where he was employed as a mechanic for Boeing.

He was a lifetime member of the VFW, a Disabled American Veteran (DAV) and dedicated his life to the VFW and his church.

Clarence is survived his children, Carol Rydstrand, Karen Wilkins, Dawn Hauschen and Clark Schmidtke; and siblings, Mary Smith, Rolland Shipley, his wife, Carol, and many other loved ones.

Preceding Skip in death were his parents and seven brothers and sisters.
