Harold “Bus” Harris

ARMSTRONG – Funeral services for Harold “Bus” Harris, 87, of Armstrong will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 8, at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Armstrong with Pastor Peter Soli officiating. Interment will be at Armstrong Grove Cemetery with military graveside rites by Weiby-Johnson

VFW Post of Armstrong.

He died Friday, July 4, 2008, at his home in rural Armstrong.

Harold “Bus” Russell Harris, the son of Willis and Letha (Manley) Harris, was born March 4, 1921, in Kossuth County. He received his education in the Armstrong schools.

On Sept. 25, 1941, he was united in marriage to Doris Thorson at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. He served in the United States Army during World War II from 1942-1946. After his discharge from the military the couple lived and farmed in rural Armstrong. The couple enjoyed wintering in Arizona and he enjoyed golfing and fishing. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

Harold was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church and a lifetime member V.F.W, both in Armstrong and also a lifetime member of the American Legion in Fairmont.

Left to cherish his life is his wife, Doris, of Armstrong; daughter, Marlys Weckman and her husband, Fulton, of Shakopee, Minn.; sons, Ronald Harris and his wife, Yvonne, of Armstrong, and William Harris of Swea City; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and sister, Dorothy Aust, of Armstrong.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert; and brother-in-law, Hartley Aust.
