Donald L. Johnson
CUSTER, Wis. – Funeral services for Donald L. Johnson, 69, of Sharon, Wis., will be held 11 a.m. Friday, July 11, 2008, at St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Custer with the Rev. George Thayilkuzhithottu officiating. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of services at the church. Interment will be at the parish cemetery.
He died Monday, July 7, 2008, at St. Michael’s Hospital after a courageous battle with lung cancer.
Donald L. Johnson was born May 30, 1939, in Estherville, the son of Beatrice Wobbe. He was a 1957 graduate of Estherville High School. He began working as a window sales representative in Iowa. He married Judi Gaskill on July 11, 1959, in Estherville. The couple moved to the Stevens Point area in 1966 and Donald began his own construction and home building company and ran it until his retirement in 2007.
He loved spending time with his family in a variety of outdoor activities and also enjoyed the company of his springer spaniel dogs.
Donald is survived by his wife, Judi; their four children, Doug (Rubecca) Johnson, Gurnee, Ill., Dan (fiance’ Molly Eron) Johnson, Stevens Point, Wis., Shelly (John) Virsnieks, Junction City, Wis., and Kelly (Chris) Tuszke, Iola, Wis.; 12 grandchildren; one sister, Marjorie Gerber, North. Sioux City, S.D.; one brother, Wayne (June) Johnson, Blair, Neb.; and his three loving aunts, Wilma, Margaret, and Doris. He was preceded in death by his mother, grandparents, and his aunt Gertrude.
